Today we watched a video that spoke about cultural understanding within companies. It was very interesting and you learned new terminology, such as, hamburger approach and also how language in business could be understood in different way depending what country the person is from. The example given for the latter was, "it's not too bad", which for some could mean it's good and for others it could signify that it's not good at all. The video also spoke about bribery, ethics and power distance of companies based on their country. Great job with comprehension and with fluency as well!

Claudio, great job with your conversational skills and fluency! You spoke about cultural differences you notice initially when visiting another country and then watched a lengthy video that had 4 people speak about their individual experiences living and working in different countries. You then elaborated on the points they rose and found similarities with what they expressed and what you mentioned with your own observations.

BE, B1, Unit 6 (Guests and visitors) to slide 20. We focused on listening and speaking, discussed cultural expectations, and practised planning a schedule for a visitor. Great effort today, Claudio! You were able to answer all questions and planned a great schedule.

Today we began with spontaneous conversation which then evolved into speaking about how you address colleagues and superiors at work, based on the first exercise questions in the lesson. You also spoke about how teachers and students are addressed in school in Italy. Lastly, we spoke about the numerous titles a person can have, such as, Dr., Sir, Miss, Mrs., Me., Madam, Prof. and Ms. along with many others. Great conversational skills and fluency Claudio!

Super job on your homework Claudio! You have a solid understanding of where and how to use the articles, including why you use "the" and when in a text. Additionally, you corrected phrases that required articles and sometimes didn't and could be left as is. We spoke about what a trade fair is, then you proceeded in inserting the correct articles within the text describing the fair. Afterwards, you did very well with formulating questions that matched with each phrase you read. Excellent job and great focus during the lesson exercises.

Good job today Claudio. We began the lesson by reviewing your homework, which you did perfectly. You matched words to make new phrases, such as, check in, check out, freshen up, meet up etc. Afterwards you read texts and came up with suitable titles for each. We also incorporated conversation within the lesson and you are showing more fluency and confidence in your expressions. Keep it up!

Outstanding job with speaking about different things today Claudio! Spontaneous conversation is very important and you are able to confidently converse using excellent vocabulary, such as for example, "compliant". Your homework was done perfectly and it was a combination of listening to an audio clip and completing related exercises. For homework you'll be completing another exercise connected to the audio clip you listened to, exercise #5 on Slide 6.

Claudio, super job with your English speaking fluency today! I know it was after a long workday and the evening in Italy but your focus proved to be very good! We spoke about purchasing cars, dealing on prices and you also learned a new term "nickel and diming" as well. You elaborated on whether you need to attend conferences in your job or if you know of any colleagues that do. Following this, you listened to an audio clip of two individuals planning a conference. You will complete the related exercises for homework and we'll review this at the beginning of the next lesson.

Claudio, it was great teaching you again! Thank you for having given me the chance to be your teacher once more. We had a varied conversation for part of today's first lesson back and spoke about work, family, the educational system and career selections as well. Afterwards, we began Unit 6 of the BE B1 level. Great job speaking and you chose your words and lexical terms appropriately for the topic at hand. You answered several open ended questions at the beginning of the unit that asked whether you have visitors at your company, which then evolved into an interesting discussion regarding work, visiting members etc. Great job today!
