We started today's lesson by reviewing your completed homework. You did very well on all the exercises Claudio! You worked on the infinite and verb usage along with using to and the ing infinitives. You continued the lessons by elaborating on an exercise question regarding if you find it easy to say no to requests at work. You were good at supporting your reasons in a cohesive way. The last exercise you completed was matching conversations you listened to in an audio clip to their matching requests on the lesson page. Good job!

Today's lesson had a good variety of different exercises. Good effort on the more difficult ones Claudio! We looked at verb patterns and using the infinitive form along with the correct form that often comes after verbs about making plans and decisions. This takes practice but you were able to give me some sentence examples using common words given in a list. You went on to read several sentences (questions) and corrected them when needed. Following this, you answered the questions that dealt with work life balance. The final exercise asked you to write three questions a company would ask employees when trying to receive input about creating a good work life balance. You wrote well-structured questions with proper spelling. Overall, great job today!

Excellent lesson today Claudio! I've noted an improvement in your conversation skills and fluency, also when you speak and pause you do not use fillers such as uhhh, umm .. very good! We had a spontaneous conversation today in-between lesson exercises that showed me your flexibility with speaking. We spoke about school, the war, world issues, gas and electricity prices and commuting. Great! You listened to an audio clip with two people speaking and giving their opinions on what they thought was good about their work life balance, what they didn't like about the system and what they would change about it. There were a lot of details and you were able to capture it all accurately without having to listen to it all again. You went on to speak about your work and gave your opinions on the aforementioned considerations. Your phrases were grammatically correct and you supported your thoughts thoroughly with facts. At the end of the lesson you completed a fun and interesting quiz on whether you have a good work life balance, where you had to rate each statement from true, mostly true to not true at all. The results also sparked some great conversation! Good job today Claudio, keep it up!

Good class today, Claudio! We continued with the lesson about terms and conditions for employment with a company. You reread the paragraphs containing the details and were able to effectively share your opinions by elaborating on whether you found the terms and conditions good enough to allow for a fair work life balance for employees. Great work finding all the compound words from the text and matching them to their individual definitions. We role played and you answered questions such as, can I start work earlier in the day, so I finish by five o'clock? 2. Does everyone get the same amount of annual leave? 3. How long can I take for lunch? You needed to quickly skim through the documentation in order to find out whether you could allow the employee what they were asking for. Excellent and keep it up!

Claudio, great lesson today! You had a lot of speaking time and we had interesting conversations about work life balance, which the lesson introduced. You began by defining what "work-life balance" is, followed by why an employer should give a good work-life balance. You read a company's conditions for employment and chose the appropriate title for each section from a list given of possible choices. You also spoke about what the work-life balance is like in Italy, giving details to your discussion. Very good job speaking and reading Claudio, keep it up!

Excellent job reading, skimming and expressing your opinions today Claudio! After you read an audio script that dealt with introductions between colleagues and clients you effectively matched who said which phrase given in the script, you moved on to giving your opinion on which conversation was more formal and why and you additionally indicated what each individual was responsible for too. Another part of today's lesson dealt with "speed networking". You learned what this is and elaborated on why this could be an effective way of meeting professionals and business contacts and alternatively, why you thought it might not be a good way of connecting with individuals, given the time constraints. You introduced yourself to me and you went on to introduce an imaginary business partner in a timely manner (like we had read in the audio script at the beginning of today's lesson). Good job

Claudio today you showed excellent skills in skimming with the audio script exercise. You quickly and effectively read the text and immediately found the information you needed afterwards to answer lesson questions. You read very well, with little correction in pronunciation. Your written homework was a paragraph you had to write about yourself and your job. Very good! Remember the use of "the" when speaking about something specific. We also covered how to respond effectively to people's conversations when you need to show interest, (That sounds interesting! Is that right? Really?). Keep it up Claudio!

Wonderful lesson today Claudio! Your reading is fluid with little correction. Small tip, as I mentioned during today's lesson, is to watch the plural words, in order to sound out the endings with "s". Your homework was done perfectly and was excellent practice for all the possible sounds of words ending in "ed". Today's lesson gave you a chance to present yourself using phrases in the present continuous and present simple. You did this very well and in a cohesive way. You read an audio script and were able to successfully answer questions about the text, fill in the blanks with the appropriate words and utilize the correct verbs to complete related sentences. You also fully understood of when you are supposed to use the present simple and present continuous based on explanations needing labelling in one of the exercises. Another exercise gave you the chance to use the correct tense from a choice of words and phrases you had to put in the correct order. Excellent work today, keep it up!

Claudio, great lesson! Your calm demeanor allows you to effectively speak and come up with proper vocabulary. This is important as it is never positive to rush or try to speak faster when learning or perfecting a language. Today's lesson ended 15 minutes earlier as you stated that you had a previously scheduled commitment but we still covered a lot and effectively. Your reading skills are great, your read with clarity, with only a few corrections for pronunciation on some words. As part of the lesson you read a few employee profiles and afterwards there were a few linked exercises that built upon their descriptions and the categorization of their responsibilities. For today's final exercise you had to complete verb phrases with the correct preposition - and you did this perfectly. Keep up the great work Claudio!

Claudio, it was a pleasure meeting you today for your first lesson! You did wonderfully speaking to me about yourself, your career and why you've decided to take English (for work purposes). I understood from your explanation that you will be using English more often for meetings with international clients and colleagues. I think the path I chose for you of Business English, B1 level, is perfect for you and this was proven with today's lesson when you answered the following questions and elaborated on them very well: what kind of business or organization do you work for, where do you spend most of your working day, at your desk, in meetings or somewhere else, how much of your time is spent working on your own, with colleagues or with clients? You will have many more instances of conversation throughout our future lessons and this will help you gain fluency and more lexical resources along with varied professional vocabulary to allow you to speak more confidently as we move on. Overall, great first lesson Claudio!
