Today we had a little bit of a shorter lesson because of WebEx audio issues but thankfully they were resolved. You were still able to listen to audio clips and work on related exercises. We continued on making and taking phone calls and making different requests. You did this perfectly and you went on to match questions to the responses you heard in the audio recordings. Congratulations for finishing Unit 2! We'll be starting on Unit 3 next lesson! Good work Andrea!

Today's lesson focused on responses to questions asking for personal details and information and the use of the apostrophe S. You listened to several audio clips that dealt with the use of is and isn't, various numbers being read out and a phone call being made. You learned about the use of is and isn't when responding to questions about where people were from, you correctly wrote down phone numbers, flight numbers, credit card numbers and a passport number that was being given to another individual in an audio clip and you practiced taking and making a phone call and how to correctly ask to speak to someone and/or telling a person to wait before you transferred them to the proper individual. You also successfully put the phrases from the phone call you listened to in proper order. Excellent job today Andrea!

Today's lesson dealt with professional introductions and giving personal work details. Good effort in listening and using the correct form of conversational and introductory expressions. Remember to say "from" and not "to" when saying they come "from"..... After reviewing the key expressions at the beginning of today's class, you correctly edited the mistakes in introductory phrases given in an exercise. We then role played introducing ourselves and you did well! You then read through a lengthy flow chart of three people introducing themselves in a professional setting. Congratulations as you finished Unit 1 and we were able to commence Unit 2. You answered the questions, what is a business card and what is on a business card effectively. We compared the term "business card" to the Italian term in order to fully understand its meaning. Finally you listened to a few audio clips where you had to be attentive to catch the details missing in the phrases given in the exercise (company names, people's names, head office countries etc.). You did this very well and got all the details. Overall good job Andrea!

Andrea, great lesson today. You listened to a few audio clips that dealt with introductions and spelling out of names. You sounded out the letters of the alphabet and communicated to me that you have more difficulty with the letters, J, X, U, Z. The letters have different sounds than those in Italian and some letters aren't part of the Italian alphabet either. We role played introductions, saying our title and correcting someone introducing you. We reviewed key expressions too that dealt with, saying hello, meeting people, introducing people and saying goodbye. You had many chances to speak today and we'll keep that up in all your lessons! Good job!

It was nice to meet you today Andrea! I'm glad you chose to learn English for career purposes. We started the lesson by introducing each other in Italian and I interjected with some English words too. After how today's lesson went, I'm confident you'll learn quickly and with practice in speaking further, you will be more fluent with time. We started a lesson today by learning how to introduce yourself and saying what you do as a job. You were good at understanding and answering the following questions, "what's your name?" and "what's your job?". Following that you read some audio clip scripts and successfully completed the related exercises. I read the clips afterwards to correct pronunciation and intonation too. We role played after each exercise and you quickly understood the instructions. You were introduced to several different career titles such as, IT technician, finance director, office assistant, sales representative, engineer and human resources manager. Remember to sound out the letter "i" in IT technician, but with the English pronunciation and don't forget to always make sure to sound out the "s" at the end of plural words. Overall though, your reading was good! At the end of the lesson you learned about how and when to use, am, are, 'm, 'm not to complete the words in sentences and that "I'm not - I am not" is negative and "I'm - I am" is positive. Great lesson and good effort today Andrea!
