Today we finished our package by correcting your second email assignment and working on your personalized version of Island 3, describing a job-related process.

A very productive class today! We corrected your first composition and looked at how informal writing should sound like speaking (not notes). Also, worked out rules for ING and TO. Practiced 2nd island strategy. Great job!

Today we worked on implementing our 2nd strategy, and analyzing the interview of the construction project manager. We applied the strategy to the stages outlined in the interview (which you'll prepare for next time).

Great job on our second strategy (i.e. improvising in a meeting). We talked about how to approach an impromptu situation or talk, worked out a strategy and tried it out in class.

Great job today on the homework and exercises, you basically got everything right the first time! We worked on a review of our socializing expressions and the technique for reacting naturally to news, also phrases for social situation in the mind map and the uses of "used to".

Today we looked at socializing expressions, a technique for giving a 'natural' response to news and how to adapt that technique for avoiding a social commitment.

Today we clarified some rules to follow when creating islands, i.e. use analogies, simple words & images, in order to be clear and save the jargon for formal presentations. We corrected your "Island2 Job".

We used your 'framework' to evaluate your Island1 (introduction), and decided how to improve it. Looked again at common expressions to use when socializing in a listening exercise, and mind mapped a conversation exchanging greetings and talking about what you do with someone new.

Great job on your first class! We worked on introductions, and what factors go in to making a good impression; a test recording of your introduction; the criteria to analyze it. Also, we learned an advanced technique call building "Islands" and learned the 3 steps involved.
