Ricardo has been teaching at high schools in Portugal since 1996 and online since 2009. In his lessons he uses a student-centered approach, where the needs, aims and interests of the students are identified aiming at adapting the lessons to them. Comprehensible and “real” input is provided (news, poems, lyrics and their songs, video sketches, advertising…) to allow a contact with the language as it is used today in Portugal and in other Portuguese speaking countries. From the beginning, students will acquire the fundamentals of grammar, and some lessons will be focused on this subject, as grammar gives a framework to explore other levels of the language, although, Communicative and Contemporary Portuguese will be central during the lessons, exploring lexicon and meaningful communication . Lessons can address specific subjects of interest for the student and might be directed both for total beginners or advanced students.
