Currently, I am a freelance linguist/researcher for Malaysian Malay, Brunei Malay and Bahasa Indonesia with a local linguist group namely North Borneo Linguistic and had been with this group ever since. The works that I do are Web Editing, Web Localization, Proofreading, Research, Terminology Research, Transcription, Translation, Social research, Questionnaire building which involves medium from Annual reports, Corporate profiles / mission statements, Legal documents (Agreements, Summons), Market research questionnaires, Multimedia presentations, Newsletters, Advertisements to Product information leaflets Website. Previously, I have taught English and Malay language for a year in AMC School of Business College, Kota Kinabalu Sabah as a Lecturer / Teacher. I also teach other subject: Year 5-6 Science (bilingual), Year 9, 10 History and Geography, particularly to students who are candidates for lower and upper national examination candidates. Other than that, I also participated and got involved in students’ extra-curricular activities, the preparing of examination questions / monthly tests for students, liaise with teachers from other schools, books sellers, Education officers etc and managed English based programmes. Then, the next two years from 2009/2010, a local secondary school namely, Kota Marudu II Secondary School in the state of Sabah as a Relief-cum-Contract Teacher to teach both Malay and English languages and other non-language related subjects, particularly to lower proficiency students in a secondary public school. My responsibilities were to manage the school’s English and Malay language based programmes, and got involved in students’ extra-curricular activities, the preparing of examination questions / monthly tests for students and liaise with teachers from other schools, books sellers, Education officers etc. Throughout the course of being a linguist, I have worked voluntarily with several companies and organization in website interface localization / localization of e-books and meta-tags, video contents for the Children’s Library Organization (USA), Aids Videos Organization (USA) and DotSub.com (USA).
