Over at techcrunch.com there is a report about the EUR 1,000,000 loan Myngle has secured. The article briefly describes Myngle and refers to the "cheesy introduction video" and ends with the extraordinarily, not to say deplorably, sexist remark "Unfortunately, we were unable to confirm if all the female teachers are as hot as Milagros." This is picked up by Myngle's own Cecilia who writes: "We are working to have more and more teachers as hot as Milagros Wink"
This rather raises the question: What is a "hot" teacher? Can only female teachers be "hot"? Which brings us to the ultimate question you see above:
Is Gaveston "hot"?

Kirsten "hot" teacher among ladies teachers.
Gaveston "hot" teacher amongst gentlemen teachers.
They were the first hottest Myngle teachers, creating group classes.
CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH.

OMG I really hope that Cecilia did not say this. It is one thing for a tech magazine to use this kind of language, it is another for a rep. of Myngle to say we are working to have more hot teachers like a fictionalized Milagros.

It bothers me to think that they are working towards this end when we don't yet know how Myngle is matching teachers and students. Maybe they are using some kind of "hot" formula to decides who gets matched with whom.

I also find it very upsetting that an employee of Myngle would say this. It is a huge slap in the face to professionalism. We are teachers, making our living over the Internet, not playboy bunnies!

Its is OK for teachers to have fun with this but to me this is another sign that the employees at Myngle don't understand the difference between HYPE, HOLLYWOOD and THE STILL, to my mind, RESPECTABLE PROFESSION OF TEACHING.

I implore you to think back over the very best teachers you have had in the past and consider how important it was that any of them were "hot".

Hi everyone,

I think that not everything has to be always so complicated and that the author of the review didn't write it to talk in offensive ways about female teachers. Same thing about Cecilia's response. Sometimes it is good to have space for a joke or a laugh and I am sure that if you open your mind enough to see it...we are talking about harmless comments.

let's focus on what is important, to make this platform always better! and laugh a bit more, do not take yourselves so seriously Rolling Eyes . that doesnt mean you are not serious teachers, but that you allow some lightness into your lives Smile

take care,

Elisa

Probably the meaning of this corner is "hot" equal to "new" but more flashing. I keep on seeing it in very serious sites. No harm with that.

"hot" and "new" should always refer to the message and not to the person.

[quotMyngle's own Cecilia who writes:

This seems to be a pure "battuta" what we call it in italian = simple humour, but wrongly placed for sure. Probably Cecilia wasn't guessing words would be textually referred.

Dear Cecilia is a really kind lady;she even wrote about this on myngle s.o.s part-the part on which I took this subject to.
So my dear Anto...you see-
the word in the article hot doesn't mean new !
