By
Enzo Nardi
These 20 intensive, 30 and 45-minute sessions include first steps for those who have no knowledge of or simply seek a thorough review of the basics of Italian. With more than 400 of the most frequently used Italian words, students learn how to communicate and elicit understandable replies in simple, practical, everyday, real-life situations. The course includes phonetics rules for perfect pronunciation, basic speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, important grammar (present conjugation of regular/irregular verbs, modal verbs, reflexive verbs, possessive adjectives, simple and complex prepositions), essential structures and expressions, useful vocabulary, and daily key conversational phrases and patterns. Interacting with the instructor, students practise basic language exercises to introduce themselves and others, greet each other, give and understand directions, take a taxi or use city transportation, reserve a hotel room, order Italian food and drinks in a bar or restaurant, make a retail purchase, request service at the hair-dresser, work in an Italian environment conversing on the phone and making appointments, or simply talk about themselves. Lessons are offered simultaneously in Italian, English, French, and German.
