Hello!

Since many of our Mynglers are true language lovers I thought it would be interesting for you to hear about Ellen Jovin.

She has a very interesting project that proves that she loves languages more than anything. On her website she even calls herself a grammar freak. Ellen is author of three books on communication skills, and a freelance journalist.

Her challenging long-term project started on July 1, 2009. Ellen’s goal is to study 13 different languages over a period of two years. All of the languages that she picked are spoken somewhere around her hometown New York, which is what originally inspired her.

She started out with Russian, followed by Arabic and Italian. Currently she is studying Korean. To each language she devotes two months of daily study. The exception is Italian that she studied more intensely and a few other languages that she had already learned in school and to which she will only devote a single review month. Ellen also shares all her experiences, the up’s and down’s of her linguistic adventure, on her blog.

To me its truly fascinating that there are people out there like Ellen, who love languages so much and are willing to devote all this time and effort.

I am sure she can be an inspiration to others and also to us Mynglers!
