We recognize the good and noble work done by teachers in Lesotho. The day is celebrated by primary and post primary teachers. Tertiary institutions including the university never do. This year, 2010, students in the Faculty of Education of the National University of Lesotho plan to celebrate teachers day. Looking forward to the 9th October 2010!

In Vietnam, the Teacher´s day is on November 20. This is very special day for all teachers. At schools or Universities, there is a big celebration for all teachers. For the teachers who got retired, their students usully come to visit them, bring them flowers, gifts, talk about their achievement, what they have done.... Students would also organize something special to celebrate the Teacher´s day and invite their teachers to join happily.

In the Philippines, we recognize the date for the World Teachers' Day but the celebration is a prerogative of the admin and faculty members as to when they do it. It varies from one school to another.

I have been in the schools all my life and I have witnessed how the Teachers' Day is celebrated. I will just talk of my experiences.

Teachers in the primary and secondary levels have this day very special for them. But Colleges and universities don't usually have this.

This day is really dedicated to the noble task of the teachers. The student body plans a program for their teachers. Songs, dances, plays, and speeches done by the students are all for the teachers. This is also the time when students give flowers, cards, gifts, foods or whatever they have to their teachers. Sometimes, it's very emotional because the "bad students" will come to realize the important role of the teachers in their lives.

Sometimes, the admin will give a treat; sometimes educational tours are planned for all the teachers which may last for 2-3 days.

The people in my country generally see the teachers as MODELS of the society. Their expectations from teachers are too high, that's why during this day the teachers are given special treatment.
