Myngle enters India through partnership with NDTV
Hi all,
A while ago we told you about the international expansion of Myngle by partnering with One.lv, the largest Russian speaking Social Community in Latvia.
Today we are happy to tell you that Myngle has taken another step by entering India through a partnership with India’s largest media conglomerate, NDTV. New Delhi Television Limited (NDTV), founded in 1988, is India’s first and largest private producer of news, current affairs and entertainment television.
NDTV has built an e-learning portal called NDTVTutor with a language section powered by Myngle! Myngle through a full co-brand will provide the services of live online language learning. This means extra visibility for all teachers and courses of Myngle and we expect to welcome all the new students and teachers!
Some data on the Indian e-learning market:
- E-learning market in India set to grow at 25%, market size USD 5m in 2002.(Nasscom)
- The market is estimated to be worth USD360 millions in 2008.
- Indian Income will triple over next two decades.(McKinsey)
- Languages in India – 415 languages, 23 official languages. There is also a sizeable population of Portuguese, French and English speaking people.
- Even though the Internet penetration is 4% in India, still the e-learning market size is $27 million . It is projected to grow to $280 million by 2012, according to an education sector report by the reputed brokerage firm CLSA Asia Pacific markets. (source: www.financialexpress.com)
Why does Myngle enter India?
- There is a huge language learning market, and the Myngle brand is well known.
- Indians spend a huge proportion of disposable income on education, 9 per cent of it. (McKinsey)
- Indian Languages learning is completely an untapped market. As businesses grow within India, this can become a big market.
- Internet growth is at 700%, which is the highest growth rate in the world.
- 75% of the population is around or below 35 years of age.
In India, a rise of even 0.1% gives an additional volume of 1 million because of sheer size of population.
India has over 40 cities with a population of 1 million or more. All small towns are now internet connected and on line learning can be a much cheaper alternative.
Given all the above, Myngle and NDTV are in a perfect position to become a key player in the Indian language training market.
