Language Learning Links!
Greeting to all Mynglers!
Today I’d like to share with you some very valuable and thought provoking links!
First in line is a post that tries to prioritize language education by separating languages into three tiers. It’s an interesting way to divide languages, which places in the top 5 English, Spanish, Chinese, French and Russian. I was surprised that the author didn’t include German in any group! Though I believe its role has diminished significantly, German is still an important language for business and commerce and is widely used in central Europe.
Another article that caught my attention was a Languages Trainers blog post about the possibility that switching languages can actually change our personality! The article is based on a US study on bilingual Hispanic women and claims that bicultural people may interpret situations differently based on the language they use! It’s definitely an idea to consider and I think most bicultural people have such experiences. I’d love to hear your opinion on this!
Last but not least I must mention one of the most helpful blogs about education and online learning. Larry Ferlazzo’s blog is really full of insightful comments, discussions and links to useful resources for both students and teachers. Have a look at his list of the best blogs for learning English! It includes some of the most important names in the online teaching community!
