The perfect teacher’s profile
Greetings teachers!
Back in November we wrote this tutorial on how to create the perfect teacher’s profile. But, since then we’ve had a nice set of changes in Myngle.
Why should you prepare an excellent profile? Because it is your business card to your prospect students. So, please try to create a strong, descriptive, and professional profile. Here is the updated information:
1. Username: try to pick a username that is short and a human name is preferable.
2. Photo: uploading your photo is very important, as it gives a face behind the description. Give your profile a personal touch by having a ‘face only’ picture with good lighting to show your beautiful smiley face.
3. Price (for one lesson): set a reasonable price, especially if you are a new teacher on Myngle. If you do not know what price to set, check other teachers giving similar lessons. Offer a free demo lesson as this is also very good for students to try a lesson with you before purchasing it.
Give an awesome trial lesson and your student will likely return for more paid lessons.
You can offer it on a regular basis or you can pro-actively contact students stating that you are ready to offer a free lesson to them during a limited time period (e.g. next week).
4. Availability: be sure to inform only the hours that you know for sure you’ll be able to teach. Of course, the more hours you are available, the more flexibility for students, therefore a better chance for being chosen.
Also, be sure your timezone is correctly stated.
5. “About me”: describe yourself as a teacher (patient, dedicated, etc.). Describe what you like to do and also some special interests and hobbies. This not only will make your profile more personal but will identify also common areas of interests with the students that could be used further in conversation practices.
6. “Teaching experience”: be as descriptive as possible about your professional experience. Be sure to write
- levels and languages taught,
- methodology of preference,
- special areas of interest (e.g. Business Mandarin course, Accounting Mandarin course, etc.),
- jobs related to teaching,
- academic degrees and certifications you have,
- years of experience (as an offline and online tutor).
7. Courses offered: have a strong and interesting course portfolio for your students to book lessons with you. If you’d like you can upload PPT files to your lessons. Or, you can create courses with a simple lesson with no material uploaded.
Tip: you can use shared courses created by Myngle or created by other teachers. Myngle has also created a Personal Consultation course for you, so you’ll be immediately able to accept lesson bookings and later develop more content.
Extra Tip!
Once you have gained some experience by teaching on Myngle, you can apply for Myngle Certification. This is a distinguished title given to teachers that fulfill minimum quality standards. You need to have given at least 20 lessons on Myngle and have positive feedback of at least average 4 stars.
