In the spotlight; teacher Gaveston
My name is Chris, known to Myngle as “gaveston“.
I first started language teaching back in the 1980s when I moved to Germany after finishing at University in England, where I was born and grew up.
After a couple of years with one of the better-known language schools, I set myself up as a full-time, freelance English teacher. At that time my students were mostly businessmen and women, housewives and one or two teenagers.
Over the years there have been many developments: Teaching material has improved, multimedia has become a reality and the interest in language learning has spread and deepened. I now not only teach adults but lead groups of children in a local Primary School and even a kindergarten, where the children discover at a very early age that learning languages (”doing English”!) is FUN.
FUN is a key word: If you like what you’re doing, you’ll learn that much better. This is true for adults as well as children! And if the teachers are enjoying themselves, the pupils probably are, too!
With the advent of high-speed internet connections our possibilities for teaching and learning have multiplied and I am confident that MYNGLE will prove to be a most useful platform, particularly in bringing native-speaker teachers and distant students together in a way that was never possible before.
Not everybody can or wants to go to a language school and we all know what a deadend unsupported autodidactism often is. Language learning online must be the answer to a lot of people’s prayers!!
This native Englishman and naturalized German greatly looks forward to making an active contribution through MYNGLE to a new dimension in English and German language teaching.
