A virtual language mall
It’s been awesome to see how many teachers and students have signed up for Myngle beta testing (1,371 as of my latest recount). We are thrilled to see that both sides are realizing how Myngle can add great value to online language learning.
There is another group, however, that stands to gain a great deal from Myngle: language schools. The best analogy I could find to illustrate the point is the language shopping mall concept.
Think of a traditional shopping mall. A developer provides the building plus all the amenities (security, air conditioning, decoration) and ancillary services (parking, food court, etc…). Then stores set up shop and sell their products, while the developer makes sure customers are aware of the attractions and visit the mall in large numbers.
Myngle will do exactly the same, only that we will do it for languages, and online! We will provide a convenient and user-friendly set of online learning tools (starting with the whiteboard and Skype enabled voice), payment system, community, feedback and teacher rating. And this is only the very beginning. Later on we will introduce cool features like matching, enhanced tools, MyngleMarkets, etc. Plus, Marina and Egbert will use their ebay expertise to make sure the public (read students) comes to Myngle en masse.
The missing piece in the puzzle is then the stores. In fact, those will be existing (offline) language schools mostly, who would like to migrate online. We have contacted 66 schools who have shown great interest in becoming a store in our mall, or a Myngletown, in Myngle terms (or Mynglese). The huge appeal for a Myngletown is the opportunity to, all of a sudden, expand their reach beyond the immediate physical environment where they are to virtually any point in the world. A Mandarin school in Beijing, for example, will be able to reach students in the US, Europe and other markets where there is hot demand for Mandarin instruction.
What is even better, Myngle will not charge rent for the virtual real estate in the language mall. Since we charge no fixed cost, but only a commission per lesson taught, we are successful only when a Myngletown is successful!!

HI,
Myngle is the best concept for online language learning. As a translation company, this is very good news to the industry as this should increase the limited number of translators in the near future exponentially. Keep it UP!
