Introducing another team member: Egbert van Keulen

Egbert van Keulen

Welcome to our Myngle blog. My name is Egbert van Keulen. Through this post I want to introduce myself to you, so you can get acquainted to yet another member of the Myngle team.

I live in Naarden, The Netherlands and I am married and have 2 children and a third one coming. Yes, sleepless nights coming up again :-)) . Currently I am still working for eBay in The Netherlands as Manager Operations for eBay.nl. On September 1 I will officially be a Myngler, being in charge of the commercial department.

If I am not spending time with my family in my sparetime I like blogging on my private blog, and be a hobby seller of a product I invented, the oranjebaret (Orange Beret). Last year I became an eBay Powerseller and top affiliate doing this, learning a lot by being a heavy customer myself. I also have my own (hobby-)website http://www.oranjebaret.nl . Reading books about self improvement is something I wish I could do more, but I like that very much.

I graduated at the Amsterdam School of Business in 1993, and after that I did my service in the Royal Netherlands Navy. Since then I have about 13 years of experience in (international) sales and marketing . My international experience lays in North America, Asia and Europe .

In the last 5 years at eBay I learned all about internet, category management and community management in one of the fastest growing, high energy companies in the world, eBay. During these 5 years I learned to understand what people want from a marketplace and I will do my utmost to implement all my learnings in Myngle.com . What I learned most in my working life is the fact that you, the customer, are number 1. You shape the Myngle experience , we are only enablers and spending our energy in getting you together and providing you the tools to do what you come to Myngle for. Find those people who fit exactly with your learning or teaching requirements.

My job is to show the world how Myngle can help you and make you happy. In order to make you happy we need to learn from you, we are not perfect and probably never will be. What I can promise you is that we will do our utmost to create the platform you want it to be. The system of Myngle is new in the world, and we need you to help us build it. Let’s build it together, bring people together and make the world a better place. Interact with us on our blog or on our community boards which will soon be opened. We sure cannot fullfill the wishes of every individual Myngler, but do know that we will listen, do our best to fix problems and optimise the platform and make language teaching or studying easy for you.

One other thing I like about Myngle is the fact that Myngle will help make the world a better place. It will create jobs in places where jobs are needed, without too much barriers to do the job. Myngle provides the possibility for people to work (teach) without being bound to office hours. It could be the most flexible (but lucrative) job to teach at Myngle. Teachers do not even have to find their own students, as soon many students will start searching for Myngle for a teacher who fits their needs and wants. All you need is a computer with broadband connection.

Stay with us on this journey, help us develop Myngle , make language learning easy and accessible and please spread the word.

You will surely hear from me soon again.

What a surprise, Egbert! Do you mind giving me a ping this week, since I don’t have your direct spam details in any language? Anyway, I’d like to wish you the best of luck with this new initiative, of which I don’t have a single clue what it is about …

    Hi Erwin,

Thank you for stopping by. Surprise, yes I can imagine. As you ask, I can contact you this week if you want, you can of course mail me any time. To give you the first tip: Myngle will change the world of language education. :-))))) No need for classrooms and face to face contact with your teacher anymore. Your teacher or student(s) can be anywhere in the world . The team (read all about my partners here on the blog) is already working hard for the official launch later this year. Before that we will have alpha and beta versions to do the testing.

Please do come by often and if you have any questions, let us know. We will be most happy to answer all your questions.

    Have a great weekend.

    Hi Egbert!
This page is encouraging. Because of your ideas, many of us are now enjoying Myngle. Having you as one of the author is really cool. I admit, i visited many sites here, applied and tried to fit myself in to some websites before Myngle was officially introduced on the net but i didn’t find such a friendly staff-site like this. My prayer goes with you and your family with this wonderful site.

    In Christ,

    Hi Egbert,
I am writing an article on how the current economic situation is affecting English language schools for the English Language Gazette.
According to trends from previous recessions, demand for business English goes down but general English goes up, as children and teenagers are sent to learn English to recession-proof them as they start to enter the job market.
It would be great if you can send me recent statistics to prove or disprove this.
I look forward to hear from you
