OK, this is the ‘nice story’.
Now the truth.

Do you believe in coincidences?

A few months ago, we were brainstorming with the team on the right name to give to our dream. The team was, at that time, scattered on 4 continents: Europe, US, South America, Asia (we are missing 2 continents here… ).
We very diligently had done our homework, and come up with names and attributes that would represent what we had in mind. Amongst 100 other things this name needed to be, it had to be a .com, as we the world is our playfield.

Well, one by one, our ideas were killed in the inevitable .com check. Godaddy.com was our enemy there, as every name we typed was reported as registered from someone else.

A bit discouraged, but not giving up, I decided to look at the names aftermarket, to see if some ideas were coming up.
And there it was! Just the one we have been searching for.
Expiring within less then 5 minutes, no bid on it. Just the first on the list.

Coincidences are like flowers on a field just waiting to be picked up.
(this one is mine, so I can get credits for it)

2 days later someone mailed me asking whether he could buy Myngle domain from us...

No way... :-)

What’s in a name…?

Hi Denitsa, yes, you are right.
There is a lot is in a name.

Myngle is about people. Everyday people; like you and me.
It is about the fact that we are a few billions people in this world, each one individual, but if we all act only as individual and ignore all those others around us, we loose a lot of what is the taste in life.

So Myngle is about sharing, communicating, getting to know each other, learning from each other. It is about communicating with each other. Communicating with a friend or with a total stranger, communicating for work, for pleasure or just for fun.

One system that allows us to do so, the same system could also be the barrier: language.

“Language: a system used to facilitate communication.
As of early 2007, there are 6,912 known living human languages.
The exact number of known living languages will vary from 5,000 to 10,000, depending on the precision of one's definition of "language", and in particular according to how one treats dialects. There are also many dead or extinct languages.”
(this is ‘borrowed’ from wikipedia, so I do not ‘own’ the merits for it)

Quindi se io ti dico che Myngle e’ per comprendersi, per poter avere contatto con altre persone. Forse tu capisci. O forse no.

Maybe you’ve understood me. Maybe not.

That is why.

Well indeed you didn't say much, but you succeeded in communicating what is most important - the spirit of Myngle! After talking to you (on that very very hot day) and some of the others I already have a feeling about what is to come.. but there is one question I always forget to ask. How did you come up with the name? I somehow feel there is a story behind it and it must be as much worth telling as the story of your preferred sentence :)

(for that matter, I have written on the back of my business cards that I enjoy doing impossible things...)
